Three Four Four

For the new year I got a new do!  Chopped my bangs - I was so worried because I've never had straight across bangs before but I love them on other girls so I decided to go ahead and be brave!  LOVE IT.  I feel like such a vintage girl.  So fashiony.  Ooh lah lah.

Three Four Eight - Three Four Five

I literally spent four days at Blue Ribbon.  The schedule was wake up, go to Blue Ribbon, come home, go to bed, repeat.  But I got to work with lovely people and make lots of money!

Three Four Nine

Like most people on the day after Christmas I went out and about to all the stores and did a little bit of returning and a little bit of shopping!  Good times, good times!  I bought so many boots - three pair!  I might fall in the heels but I'm going to master them for sure.

Three Five Zero

IT'S CHRISTMAS!!!  Enough said.  I love it.  Such a busy day for me - going to my grandma's and dad's and back to hang out with mom's side of the family.  It's just the best!

Mom gave me this quilt today.  I love it so much.  It was made from scraps of fabric from one of her blankets in high school.  Best ever.

Three Five One

CHRISTMAS EVE!  This is my favorite day of the year!  On Christmas Eve every year I spend the evening with my mom's side of the family and we just have a silly time!  I love to be around my family, so much.  My mom let me open one present and I was thrilled (I'm still like a four year old when it comes to gift exchange).  Here's my jar of string - THE CUTEST.

Three Five Two

You really never know what's going to happen in life, you know?  So after finding out about my daddy I was driving home from the hospital and had an awful car accident.  Terrible night, I'd say.  Anyway, today was spent with lots of phone calls to the insurance company and saying goodbye to Harriet the Honda, my sweet sixteen present.

Three Five Three

Today was not an easy day in the life for sure.  I was supposed to go shopping for some Christmas things with my daddy but he is currently in the hospital.  He had to have some surgery on his throat and the doctors discovered he has cancer.  BUT, he's a strong man and we're definitely going to get through this.  He has a really positive prognosis too!

My parents have been divorced since I was four years old but I love them dearly and thank God that I have such amazing people to look up to.  My dad is so laid back and easy going along with outgoing and super friendly.  He's never met a stranger and I love that I was blessed with that part of his personality.  I know I'm so lucky to have a dad like him, so easy to talk to, so loving and encouraging.  He's definitely going to be okay - I can feel it.  Plus who else is going to walk me down the aisle in my wedding?!  I love him, so much.

Three Five Four

Today, I got to catch up on some of the money I've spent in the past week - I picked up a shift at the lovely Blue Ribbon Diner again!  I made some money and then spent it all again on more Christmas gifts. I love and I mean love shopping for other people.  I just adore seeing a big smile when someone opens a gift from me.  I go all out every year but this year I think I've gone a little overboard.  I hope everyone is super excited when they open them up!

Also, I finally wrapped all the things I've been buying!

Three Five Five

It's Christmas time for sure!  I've been out and about with all the last minute shoppers trying to finish my list!  It's been crazy everywhere!

Three Five Six

In high school, one of my favorite nights of the year was Cotillion.  Every year, the Monday before Christmas, I got to put on a real cute dress and get all dolled up for the dance.  It was so much more fun than prom because the people that attended weren't only kids from my school and I always loved my date.  This year I was lucky enough to help a girl from my youth group get all dressed up.  I gaver her an adorable up-do and some sassy makeup!  I absolutely love to do hair and makeup so this was a great venture for me.

Three Five Seven

Today was spent doing a lot and accomplishing only a little.  Of course, it was a good time, though.  I spent a majority of my day hanging out with the family baking lots of Christmas goodies!  Tis' the season!
We made lots of chocolate oreo balls and oatmeal cookies, yum!

Three Five Eight

Today, I spent twelve hours at my wonderful place of employment - Blue Ribbon Diner.  I live there on Saturdays, usually.  I love my job though, and I adore the people I work with so it's a fun way to spend the day.

Three Five Nine

Another day in the life.  Today I got to spend some lovely time with my grandmother and her brother (he's in town from syracuse).  We had some lunch and did some last minute Christmas shopping.  My grandma is absolutely wonderful.  She, like my mom, is one of my very best friends and I can talk to her about anything.  She is the strongest woman I have ever met and her excitement for life never ceases to amaze me.  She literally plays golf three days a week and goes to the gym for hours everyday.  Did I mention she's almost 80?  Impressive, for sure.

I love her more than words.

This picture isn't from today but it's one of my favorites of her.

Three Six Zero

These days are flying by!  I think the countdown has made me much more aware of time and the fact that it passes so quickly.

I feel like I was studying just yesterday for the final exams I had.  But today I got all my grades back - passed with flying colors, not like I doubted myself but I was a little worried about one paper I turned in.  That whole procrastination skill I have scares me sometimes.

I call my mom Lil' Nana.  I know this is weird but I had jaw surgery two years ago and I couldn't pronounce her name, which is Anna, so I started calling her Nana.  She's so tiny that I added the "little" last Christmas.  She loves it.  And she is MY FAVORITE.  I love that woman more than anything on earth.  She is beautiful, strong, independent, compassionate, and the best mom I could ever ask for.  She is my very best friend and I wouldn't trade anything for our relationship.  Anyway, today she and I had to cater an event together.  Even working, we have the most fun!  I really hope when I have a daughter that I'll be as great to her as she has been to me.

She's also the worst at talking when someone takes a picture, but I love it.

Day six with my beautiful mom.

Three Six One

Day five and everyone left campus for the holiday break.  After making my last trip to the airport my friend James and I decided to go on a shopping spree in Raleigh.  He's the cutest ever and I adore him.  I was so excited because I got to dress him and pick out all the clothes he bought.  I love to do that, like a mini makeover.  I bought some things but he broke the bank with his purchases.  I call that a success!

When we got back to town we had a cute little dinner date to finish the day followed by some ballroom dancing in the parking lot (no, I'm not making that up).

Three Six Two

Day four and I've accomplished so much - first thing this morning I took my LAST exam of the semester. My fall schedule was the worst I've had so far in my college career and I am so glad to finish it!

Other things of the day were trips to the airport and my holiday gift exchange slash dinner outing with my reslife staff.  We had dinner at my favorite, Village Grill and then came back to Elon to play a game of "white elephant".  I chose this black and white bag - inside I found three dixie cups filled with nickels and dimes.  I wasn't too excited at first, although I thought it was the cutest packaging, but I counted the change and it added up to $15 which is what the card was telling me.  Now that, I could get excited about!

Three Six Three

I've been a resident assistant at Elon for two years now.  I absolutely love my job and the people that I get to meet because of it.  Today, I got to spend hours with two great friends that I can thank reslife for.  Ali, the one in the first picture was my resident and suite mate my first year as an RA and she made my life so much easier.  If nothing else, I'm so glad that I took the job and all the difficulties it brings just because I got to meet that precious girl.  She is absolutely wonderful and she continually allows me to be exactly who I am, as strange as that may be sometimes.  The other photo is of Emily and I.  She is my resident this year (we call her lil' nugs because she's so mini - she loves it).  She too, is amazing and I'm excited that I get to spend another semester living with her.  I feel like the three of us are a pack now, we do things all the time and even have our own nicknames which all involve the word nugs, ha!
We're always so absurd and just silly.

Ali is leaving for home (Colorado) tomorrow and she'll be abroad in the spring so today was our last hurrah for a while.  I might cry right now thinking about it.

Emily is leaving for home tomorrow too but she'll be back in the spring so today was our last hurrah just for a little while.

Today, day three, I have two pictures, for two beautiful ladies.

Three Six Four

I spent most of my "day two" at the beloved Blue Ribbon Diner waiting tables and most of the night was spent with the beautiful teenagers that I get to hang out with every Sunday (I lead a youth group).  We sang all the Christmas Carols we could find and had the best time.  Then it was off to do more studying and have the worst time.

Which led me to this thought..

I keep realizing how much I actually despise school, I think it's because I often feel like I'm not at the right college for me, studying what I love.  I adore the theatre, all things about it, and here I'm unable to do any stage work so I feel like I have a huge gap in my life.  But that's why the countdown is here.  364 days until I get to start real life and find out where my passions might take me.  keep calm and just graduate.

Three Six Five

In 365 days I will graduate from the beautiful university that I've called home for a few too many years, five! (I know it's a lot).  The plan is to take a photo a day to make sure I enjoy and appreciate every single one of them.

Plus, like most grads I don't know where I'm going next - maybe the pictures can teach me a little something!

Day One.  Study Sesh.
